Nothing But Old 45s Flip Sides
May 3, 2019This is a very exciting time for Boss Boss Radio! We’re well underway on becoming syndicated on radio stations across the United States. Right now, we’re talking with stations everywhere about being their over the air content.
There’s a lot of moving parts. I’ve always been forthcoming on sharing what happens “behind the curtain” with you because we know you are interested in our story. There are many challenges to overcome, not the least of which is how to finance the project.
Other such challenges include an actual business model, distribution to hundreds of individual stations, marketing, monetization of advertisements, programming, and operations. We’re currently looking for people who understand business and radio who will eventually join our team. While we aren’t officially hiring just yet, we are talking with candidates who might be a good fit.
Now, you may be asking “Why do this, when The Boss is already available online worldwide?” and that’s a great question. What Over The Air (OTA) radio offers is a point of discovery for listeners, simply by being on the AM and or FM radio band in a local market. Currently, the internet radio model doesn’t provide for marketing to one particular market, and thus, we end up with a few listeners in a lot of markets and countries, but in no locales have we identified a multitude of listeners (except in Springtown Texas, where there are more listeners to The Boss per capita than any other town, we think we have 8 listeners there out of a total population of 2100).
By airing Boss Boss Radio on several OTA stations, we will be discovered purely by being on the local radio, which should increase our online audience many fold. And we will also benefit from local advertising revenue, which will allow us to build our network out, as originally planned seven years ago. In addition to our proprietary “Boss” format, we’ll be launching other formats as we build this out.
So stay tuned, I’ll be sharing our progress with you here in the Boss Buzz as well as on the air on Boss Boss Radio. We are super excited and glad that you’re a part of this history-making era in OTA and Online radio.
