This Week in Rock and Roll History, December 1 – 10
December 5, 202110 Very BOSS Years!
July 28, 2022LIVE from Modesto!
The Boss is taking our show on the road with to the American Graffit Festival and Classic Car Show this June with the 610 Sturgeon Mobile Studio.
The Sturgeon is our station away from home, and comes with a pedigree of fine radio broadcasting since the 1980s. Classic (and now defunct) radio stations KFRC in San Francisco and KHJ in Los Angeles both called the Sturgeon their remote home throughout the 1980s and on into the 00’s.
We’ve told you the story of how the Sturgeon was nearly lost, but was rescued by Wild Bill Shakespeare, former KFRC staffer who lovingly restored her to her former glory. Now, road and air worthy, the Sturgeon is ready for a new generation of radio to make some new memories.
Boss Boss Radio, and our sister station The 70s Channel, are bringing the sights and sounds of the American Graffiti Festival to life, LIVE in Modesto. On Friday June 10th, we will host a day of KFRC music and memories, hosted by some of the original KFRC personalities and folks behind the scenes. We’ll pay tribute to Sacramento and San Francisco personality Terry Nelson, who, among other stations in Northern California and beyond, spent some of that time behind the mic at KFRC. Terry’s widow and daughter join Bud from That 70’s Channel Friday morning on the air.
John Van Camp kicks off the festivities at 6am SHARP, and speaking of SHARP, the Sturgeon’s new custodian, Chris Sharp, will be along for the “ride.” JVC salutes KFRC’s most famous air talent, Dr. Don Rose with an hour retrospective of the man who woke millions of Nothern Californians up daily for 13 years straight!
Bobby Ocean, well known KFRC and KHJ dj will emcee the festivities. Friday is 6-10-22 it is also 610 day (as in 610 KFRC) Many personalities will stop by live or call in from around the globe.
Then, on Saturday, join the Boss Jocks from Boss Boss Radio and That 70s Channel live from the Car Show. Come on by, say hi, meet us and the amazing 610 Sturgeon with The Boss!
