On July 3, 1970, a radio institution began that would become as American as apple pie and Chevrolet. It was the first broadcast of American Top 40, hosted by Casey Kasem, who would famously be credited as the person who taught the world to “count backwards,” revealing the biggest song in all the land each and every week.
During the 1980s, Guy Aoki worked on the show and forged a lifelong friendship with Casey. But we’ll let Guy tell you all about it. Guy was John Van Camp’s guest on the Big Boss Show on July 3rd for AT40’s 50th Birthday, you can listen to the interview below.
