A Letter from Jamey and John
July 30, 2024We can't begin to adequately express our thanks to all the volunteer folks who have had a hand in the forming and founding of Boss Boss Radio. We wanted to take this opportunity to salute all the folks that helped shape BBR.
In 2011, John Van Camp and Kapt. Kris Neely first developed what would become The Boss. After more than a year of development and planning, the station finally went "live" on August 1st 2012, following the very first presentation of "Beatles to Blondie," a weekend of every song we played back then, in order, from The Beatles to Blondie (Since then it's grown to a full week and has become "Beatles to Bon Jovi").

Right away, Texas radio vet Bonnie Stacy joined us, as did Rockin' Rog and Hall of Famer Raechel Donahue. An unknown DJ who was just cutting her Boss Jock teeth did evenings. Her name was Kat Jones (you know better today as Producer Morgan (little known fact!)
Soon we were joined by the likes of Bay Area actor and Hall of Fame radio host Terry McGovern (These are not the droids we're looking for), and former Sr. Editor of Rolling Stone Magazine Ben Fong-Torres (check out "Almost Famous"). We also had Brad "Martini" Chambers in the middle of the "BFT sandwich" Sunday afternoons. A big thank you to Al The Engineer for producing Brad's show too!

"Mr. Smooth" Peter B. then joined the Boss from Boss Francisco, as did Matt Collier, who stayed for a year and has come back! Texas Panhandle Radio Hall of Famer Jamey Karr joined the Boss as did Big Mike from Canada. Meanwhile "Uncle" Wyatt Jennings moved in from Facebook Country, Menlo Park CA.

Later we were joined by Bay Area Radio Hall of Famer Bob Ray, LA's Boss Jock Bill Wade, Houston's Chris Martin, and LA ladies Tammy Trujillo and Lara Scott lent their talents to the station.

Everybody's "Cousin" Dean joined us from Central California and The Insane Darrell Wayne came along and fulfilled a life-long dream of being a Boss Jock. Mark Elliott, Sara Freeman and Jay Arnold worked the weekends.

Then the hardest working man in radio, Kevin James, came our way. Matt Collier also returned after spending a few years relocating from the East Coast to the West Coast. The current group of Boss Jocks also includes Kelly Cox and David Reed, as well as Dave Garrity and Corey Mitchell.

Dallas personality Cruz was also part of the Boss and continues to hold down a daily air shift in Dallas. Our very own "Professor" Chuck Bland keeps us cooking all night on the weekends. A big old thank you, too, to Donna Hornsby, who is like the Den Mom over us. She also hosts shows on both Boss Boss and Alt Boss Gold. Ric Stratton from Boss Country did weekends for a short while and Bill Page joined us from PlayFM.

Paul "The Madman" Lee worked at K-BOSS in Fresno in the day, so he naturally fits here. The Real Bob McCoy is also on Boss Country and does weekends on the Boss, Kathy Townsend joins us from Pittsburgh, Chewy is a Northern California guy and Allan Kaye joins us from Chicago!

Bryan Schaffer is everywhere around the Boss Studios, whether he is doing his morning show on That 70s Channel, or filling in on Boss Country and Boss Boss, or lending his big voice to all our stations from time to time. David Lovejoy joins us from Amarillo, TX, where he settled after a tour of duty as an Army Ranger. He is one of our full-time Boss Jocks at Alt Boss Gold, and also holds down the Sunday afternoon shift on Boss Boss.

Every person that has graced us over the past 12 years has left their mark, not only on us and you, but also on the internet radio industry as a whole. BBR is one of the most admired internet radio stations, reaching over 1/4 Million listeners worldwide every month and growing.
Sadly, we've lost four Boss Jocks since we began. "Uncle" Wyatt Jennings, "Mister Smooth" Peter B, Kevin James and Rockin' Rog have all passed as of this post. It sucks that we seem to be going to so many memorials that last few years. These giants of radio stood tall and left there mark on us all. Their memory continues to guide us each and every day.
Thank you to all who selfishly and tirelessly strive to make BBR the best it can be. We hope that this will be considered one of the highlights of their careers.
