Behind the Scenes – Boss Boss Radio Turns 7!
August 1, 2019Janet Jackson Metamorphosis Tour 2019
August 3, 2019Cousin Dean got the radio bug as a kid growing up in Monterey, California—Boss Jock Bob Mansfield from the Boss Boss Radio morning show was his next-door neighbor!—going down to Cannery Row and watching the DJ’s work their magic at Music Power KMBY 1240 AM.
Fast forward many years, 1986-87, Dean got out of the military, moved back to Monterey, AND had a chance conversation with then KWAV-FM General Manager Terry Gillingham. Terry in turn set Dean up with Program Director Michael Reading and he got a gig in radio! It was also at that station that Dean would meet and eventually many years later reunite with John Van Camp.
Dean has worked primarily in the Monterey-Salinas-Santa Cruz market; KOCN-FM, KDON-FM, KTOM-FM, KRQC-AM, KCDU-FM, KNRY-AM, as well as in Merced, California at KABX-FM.
In addition to working at Boss Boss Radio, Dean also works for Groome Transportation/Monterey as a shuttle and limousine driver. In Livermore, California he works as a delivery and road test driver for transit bus manufacturer Gillig Corporation.
Dean has five kids, a granddaughter, two dogs, and currently lives in Seaside, California.
“After all these years, I still have this strong love for radio and the business and I truly enjoy doing my show here on Boss Boss Radio and working with the best in the business, period,” Dean says. “Make it BOSS everyday!”
