Boss Timeline
July 30, 2024A Letter from Jamey and John
July 30, 2024
Well, happy birthday to us! When we think back on the past 12 years, a lot of life has happened! On August 1st, 2012, at 5:00 am PT, Boss Boss Radio, the heir apparent to the Boss Radio format of yesteryear, signed on the internet. Playing a full complement of classic hit songs, The Boss, as it would be affectionately named, was unlike anything on the internet at that time. With a staff of live DJs (we call them Boss Jocks) spinning songs (do MP3s spin?) and interjecting entertainment and information about the music and the lifestyle.
In the past 12 years, a lot has happened, not just at the station but in the world as well. And every step of the way, Boss Boss Radio has been here, playing the music of our lifetimes. Back in 2012, internet radio was mostly just people’s iTunes libraries set to shuffle, with little regard for whether an audience would want to hear your playlist. Only a handful of stations used people to present the programming on air.
We thought there had to be a better way, and we were right. As soon as The Boss showed up online with radio veterans who knew how radio was supposed to sound, and with researched playlists perfectly curated for a seamless flow, BBR was ahead of the curve.
Today, we’re still devoted to presenting The Boss to you with the same goals in mind: all hits all the time, lively and entertaining Boss Jocks, a Boss sound that can’t be beat, and a place you can be as proud of as we are. Thank you for 12 Boss years. As we like to say, this is only the beginning. We expect to be playing on into the future, constantly evolving to serve new generations that want to be entertained in only the way we can do it. We owe it all to you! Thank you for making Boss Boss Radio your station for the greatest Boss hits of all time!
