May 25, 2019All of us at The Boss are deeply saddened at the sudden and unexpected loss of Mister Smooth, Peter B. Peter was one of our most experienced Boss Jocks on staff, having started his broadcasting career when The Beatles were still together. He grew up during the Boss Radio era, attended college in Sacramento, CA and worked part-time at then legendary KROY radio. From there, Peter spent time in San Jose, CA at another storied radio station, KLIV. He was on the air in Spokane (KJRB) and Seattle, Washington (KVI) for years before moving to Madison, WI.
In Madison at WIBA, the readers of Madison Magazine voted Peter “Madison’s Best Radio Personality” five times. His morning show was one of the top-rated programs in Madison. Eventually he wound up at KALL in Salt Lake City before gaining his Master’s degree and working in Communications and Marketing for Discover Card and Harley-Davidson.
Peter joined The Boss in the fall of 2012, as one of our charter Boss Jocks. Since 2013, Peter has held the evening position here, direct from his beloved “Boss Francisco,” and launched the 60s at 6 hour, as well as hosting the Boss 30 countdown on Wednesday nights, a perennial favorite. After being on the air for the first few months, fellow Boss Jock at the time Terry McGovern anointed Peter with his nickname, “Mister Smooth,” and he’s been using it ever since.
Over the past seven years, he was more than just a smooth voice on the radio. Peter also spent mus of his free time announcing area school football and basketball games. One of his more recent games found him announcing court side at Sacramento’s Sleep Train Arena, home of the NBA Sacramento Kings.
To the millions of listeners that Peter has reached around the globe during his stellar career in broadcasting, we join with you in mourning the silencing of a great voice and an even greater friend.

Rest In Peace
